Stephanie Seymour (born July 23,
1968 in San Diego, California) is a supermodel who has done modeling work
for many well-known fashion magazines and fashion designers. She has
worked with several well-known photographers, including Herb Ritts,
Richard Avedon, and Gilles Bensimon. In its March 1991 and February 1993
issues, she posed nude in Playboy magazine. She has appeared on over 300
magazine covers.
She started her modeling career working for local newspapers and
department stores in her hometown at the age of 14. A year later she won
the Elite Model Management Look of the Year model contest. Standing 5'10",
Seymour is noted for her long, graceful legs in modeling swimwear,
lingerie, hosiery, sleepwear, and clothing.
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Seymour appeared in numerous issues of
the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition, including once on the cover of
the magazine. During the same period, Seymour was a primary lingerie and
hosiery model for the relatively new Victoria's Secret company in its
mail-order catalogs and retail stores. She and Dutch model Frederique
helped Victoria's Secret grow from a new company to one of the world's
giants in women's lingerie, hosiery, swimwear, and clothing.
In 1998 her book Stephanie Seymour's Beauty Secrets for Dummies was
published. In 2006 she posed partially nude for Germany's MAX magazine.
Also in 2006 she did a photo shoot for Gap with her family.
In July 2007, it was reported that Salvatore Ferragamo had finished the
creative campaign for his fall/winter 2007/2008 collection featuring
Seymour and Claudia Schiffer. The collection was shot on location in Italy
with Mario Testino. In the promotional photos, the supermodels play film
stars protected by bodyguards and pursued by the paparazzi. The ads are
slated to debut in key fashion and lifestyle books starting in August.
In 2000 she played Helen Frankenthaler in the movie Pollock and was ranked
#91 on the FHM 100 Sexiest Women of 2000.
In 2002 she was Sara Lindstrom in the "Crazy" episode of Law & Order:
Criminal Intent.
At the age of 15 she began dating John Casablancas, the head of Elite
Model Management, who was married, and by 17 was living with him. At 19,
she broke off the relationship.
From 1989 to 1990 she was married to guitarist Tommy Andrews. The marriage
failed, but resulted in the birth of Dylan Thomas Andrews in 1991.
After that she became associated with Axl Rose, the lead singer of Guns N'
Roses. She appeared in two music videos by Guns N' Roses: "Don't Cry" and
"November Rain". Their tumultuous relationship ended in 1993.
In 1994 she married the media mogul Peter Brant. In 1993 she gave birth to
Peter Brant, Jr.; in 1997 to Harry Brant; and in 2004 to her first
daughter, Lilly Margaret Brant. |
