Haylie Duff - Biography

Haylie Duff was born on February 19, 1985 in Houston, Texas. She is the older sister of actress/singer Hilary Duff. Her father, Robert Duff, is the owner of a chain of convenience stores, her mother, Susan, is a producer. Duff and her sister took up ballet at a very young age, and toured with the Cechetti Ballet during the mid-'90s. She first appeared on screen in an uncredited role in the 1997 miniseries True Women. In 1997 she also appeared in the TV movie, Hope, as Martha Jean Pruitt. Duff won the roll of Gina Addams in the Addams Family Reunion (1998), and was then seen in an episode of The Amanda Show, in December 1999.

Duff went on to make guest appearances on Chicago Hope in February 2000, and Boston Public, in 2001. In 2002 & 2003 Duff was cast in a recurring role on her sister's hit show, Lizzie Maguire. She played Lizzie's cousin Amy. Around this time Haylie contributed to her sister's Christmas album, Santa Claus Lane. She also sang on the Lizzie Maguire Movie soundtrack, which was realeased in 2003, and sang with for her sister's album, Metamorphosis. The Duff sisters teamed up for a remake of the Go-Go's 1981 hit "Our Lips Are Sealed," which was heard on the soundtrack for A Cinderella Story (2004), starring Hilary Duff. Haylie also contributed a solo number to the soundtrack, "One In This World."

Duff's big break came when she was cast as popular girl Summer Wheatley in 2004's cult classic, Napoleon Dynamite. The film became a huge success, giving Duff the exposure she had been waiting for. After Nepoleon Dynamite, she appeared in some lesser known films like In Search of Santa (2004), and Dishdogz (2005). In 2005 she was cast as reoccuring character, Sandy Jameson, best friend to Simon's girlfriend, on the hit series, 7th Heaven. She stayed with 7th Heaven until 2006, the same year her movie, Material Girls, was released. Duff co-starred with her sister in this hit comedy about spoiled rich girls who have to turn a failing business around after the death of their father.
